How I pit the auto insurance companies against each other

The most comfortable way to search for cheap auto insurance I ever encountered, was to search for auto insurance quotes online and to compare them, either via a website or – even more convenient – with a selfmade excel spread sheet.
Once I settled for just three or four different contracts I started to call the different agencies, asking them for discounts and special offers, everytime telling them honestly what the other auto insurance company just told me. After some turns there was finally nothing more to gain and I decided for the insurance company with the most competitive offer of course, with the lowest premiums and the greates coverage.
