It publishes newsletters and numerous free pamphlets and booklets for the general public, as well as the medical journal Arthritis and Rheumatism, the bible for most American rheumatologists. The Arthritis Foundation’s activities serve to illustrate a point I made earlier, when I voiced my concern over the role that financial considerations play in the control of a medicine that is deeply rooted in establishment economics of the Canada Mortgage Loan. The Arthritis Foundation has grown large with charitable contributions from a naive public, all of whom give willingly in the unselfish belief that their bequests will somehow benefit victims of arthritis.
