Tell Them Precisely What You are Going to Do

October 9th, 2011 by admin

I used to think that it was insurmountable to break into the technical writing field, but I was extremely incorrect. It turns out that I just didn’t have enough experience when I was sending my resume around. I also didn’t take the time to actually dress my resume up. Now, I understand you cannot just wing it when you are trying to land a very good employment like this. You have to be sure that you’re taking yourself actively, and that you’re editing everything right before you send it out. Of course, you also need to make certain that you’re truly very good at writing cover letters. Just before you slap something together and send it out, you truly need to be sure that you are performing your research. Search up the company and make sure that you have something specific to say approximately them. Tell them precisely what you are going to do for their company.

Spelling & Grammar Are Vital In A CV

February 14th, 2011 by admin

In the day of the spell checker and online thesaurus there really is little excuse for a badly written CV.  Poor spelling and bad grammar says to a potential employer that you are lackadaisical. They will not want an employee who doesn’t bother to check the spelling of his /her work. The grammar and spelling in the CV and the cover letter are the first things you get judged on in the prescreening process.

Another big no-no is the use of “To whom It may concern”, take the time to find out who does the hiring or at least Attention it to the head of human resources. So what is the difference between a CV and a resume?

Made for Children

November 2nd, 2010 by admin

Many micro fiction stories are made for children. They are either a children’s short story or they are some kind of short story such as the Brother’s Grimm Fairy Tales or the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. They often have some kind of lesson or moral to the story for children to learn something about life or how to treat things and people. Some of the easiest stories translated to flash fiction are biblical stories. Also, many of Edgar Alan Poe’s stories could be considered micro fiction because of the brevity of the stories and long poems, even though they aren’t all considered children’s stories.

Blogging with Dyslexia

August 12th, 2010 by admin

Being dyslexic, I am constantly concerned about whether or not I have minor slip ups of Dyslexia spelling when I am writing on my blog. I know having an online journal is not something that would be recommended for a dyslexic, but I have always liked to write, and I also think it is therapeutic for me. A friend of mine suggested I get this new software so that I can be confident with how I write, and after almost a year of blogging, I figured, it is never too late to start improving on my spelling and grammar. It was never a concern of what I was writing, but rather, how I was writing them. I would not want to be misunderstood or sound vague because with my blog, I was hoping that there are people out there who could relate to me and would not feel alone. Now I am confident that I am getting my thoughts out as clear as I want them to be.

My name is Jon Caldwell, and take it from me when I say Spoken Word New York gets the job done. Quickly and efficiently, you will get what you are looking for as far as where and when to find poets, open mic sessions, or other events. I’ve been following this website for about as long as it’s existed and I must say it exceeded my expectations. Most of these websites have a limited amount of potential, but this one is not on that list. It’s amazing what you can take from poetry in life, and I have no doubt that Spoken Word understands that.
