As a mother I feel I need to spend as much time as possible with my baby.  Instead of putting him down for a nap when I prepare dinner, I let him stay in the kitchen with me.  Of all the pieces of baby furniture available, baby high chairs are one of the most useful.  I sit him in his high chair with a sippy cup of milk and a cookie.  That way I know he is in a safe place, but can still see me and I can interact with him while I work.  I talk to him and show him the different cooking utensils and ingredients I am using to cook with.  This helps to develop his verbal skills.  I also sing and tell stories to him.  In this way I make dinner time Mommy and me time.
