Once you have managed to unwrap the plastic packaging from your Sky Lantern, without tearing it that is, the next thing to do is hold the whole thing upright and- again carefully- fan out the paper to create the three dimensional tulip shape. The reason why it’s a good idea to d this before lighting the fuel cell, is that you don’t want the paper to scorch. It won’t set alight as the paper isn’t flammable on the inside, but scorching it may effect its efficiency. Next, light the fuel cell on all four sides until it is bursting with flames.
